Printer Port Configuration Following is a check-off list for the steps necessary to setup the PortDoubler on your Printer Port. There are some detailed instructions located just after the list. 1. Deactivate software that may be using the serial port (Refer to Chapter 5). 2. Connect the PortDoubler to the Mac's printer port. 3. Open the folder on your PortDoubler disk titled "Printer Port Install". 4. Drag the extension titled "Printer PortDoubler" and "PD Printers" onto your "System" folder. * You should receive a confirmation from your mac, that the extensions will be placed automatically in your extensions folder. 5. Connect both of your printers to the PortDoubler. You can connect either printer to either of the PortDoubler's ports. 6. Open your "Chooser", click on the icon titled "Printer PortDoubler" 7. Select which port (1 or 2) you are configuring and what type of printer you are connecting from the menus available. Refer to examples below. 8. Restart your computer. Port Menu   The first menu is the "Port" menu, which tells the Port Doubler which ports your devices are connected to. The printer icons represent the Port Doubler's ports when it is configured for the Mac's printer port.   Printers Menu The second menu is the "Printers" menu. This is where you select your actual device or program that is attached to your PortDoubler's ports. When you first select the "Printers" menu you will get a general list of devices available on the printer port. Selecting the device category will allow you to choose your specific device. Devices or programs that are not in the "Printers" menu can be manually selected from the "Other..." option. Editing the Port Trigger List (Remove) & Other...   If you need to edit or change your Port Trigger List settings, this can be done by selecting the "Remove" option from the "Printers" menu. In order to remove an item from the Port Trigger List, you will need to first highlight the item you want removed then go to the "Printers" menu and select the "Remove" option. This will remove the item selected. For devices or programs that are not in our "Printers" menu, selecting "Other..." will prompt a dialog window to appear. This dialog window will allow you to navigate through your hard drive and select specific devices or programs. The printers can be found in the Extensions folder of your System folder. Below is an example of the dialog window that will appear when the "Other..." option is selected.
